Margie BlairMargie began Rainbow Dance Academy in 1981 after graduating from New Albany High School. It began in her parents basement (on Rainbow Drive hence the name) and grew from 25 students in its first year to one of the top programs in the Louisville Metropolitan area. She began RDA to help her with her college expenses, but after graduating from Indiana University Southeast with a Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education, she found that she wanted to continue to combine her love of children, education and dance.
This past year the studio celebrated its 30th Anniversary. Margie serves as director of all of the programs offered at the academy, but her real love is being in the classroom with the students as a teacher/coach. She has coached all levels in the competitive program winning National titles and cash prizes. In 2010 she was chosen by her peers to receive the “UDA Coach Award” and in 2011 the studio received the “Live to Dance Award” at the Jamfest Dance Nationals. In 2009 and 2010, the RDA Youth team she co-coached was ranked number one in the nation by the US Finals Competition. She serves as one of the head choreographers for the RDA programs and has also choreographed for various dance teams, choral groups, beauty pageants and theater productions. Margie is proud of the excellent reputation of the studio and its motto, “Creating stars on stage, as teams, in life!” She loves sharing her passion of dance with the students, and believes that their experiences within the RDA program must always be one that will nurture self-confidence, dependability and a strong work ethic so that they can take those skills into life. Margie is married to Scott Blair and they have three boys, Alan, Nathan and Caulan. |
